Solar Panel & Battery Installation

Solar panel and battery installation across the UK as one package — Tier-1 panels, a Tesla Powerwall 3 or EcoFlow battery, and a hybrid inverter sized to work together from day one. Self-consumption 80%+, 0% VAT until 2027. Free survey: 0800 099 6606.

Solar and battery, installed together

Installing solar panels and a battery together is the lowest cost-per-kWh route to energy independence. One install, one set of scaffolding, one hybrid inverter — and self-consumption of 80%+ from day one versus ~30% for solar alone. A typical combined system pays back in 10–12 years and protects you from rising grid prices.

Why together

Why install solar and battery at the same time

Solar panels alone only let you use about 30% of what you generate — the rest is exported, often for a fraction of what you pay to buy it back in the evening. Adding a battery stores your daytime generation for use at night, lifting self-consumption past 80% and turning a smart export tariff into real savings.

Doing both at once is materially cheaper than retrofitting later: you share one set of scaffolding, one survey, and one MCS certificate, and — crucially — the hybrid inverter is sized for the battery from the start, so you never pay to swap the inverter out down the line. It also means a single DNO application and a single, tidy commissioning visit.

What you pay

Solar + battery package prices

Package Price (0% VAT)
4 kW solar + Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5 kWh) £14,500 – £16,200
4 kW solar + EcoFlow PowerOcean (10 kWh) £13,200 – £14,800
4 kW solar + GivEnergy AIO (13.5 kWh) £13,800 – £15,400
6 kW solar + Tesla Powerwall 3 £15,800 – £17,500

All packages are 0%-rated VAT until 31 March 2027 — see the 0% VAT guide. For a full price breakdown by battery see Tesla Powerwall cost, or model your own payback on the finance calculator. Finance from around £130/month over 10 years (Phoenix Financial, 0–10.9% APR).

The process

From survey to switch-on

1

Free survey

A solar PV engineer assesses your roof, shading, consumption and tariff, then sizes panels and battery together so the hybrid inverter is right first time.

2

System design

We design the combined system in PV*SOL, confirm 0% VAT eligibility, submit DNO (G98/G99) and SEG paperwork, and give you a fixed-price quote.

3

One-day install

One set of scaffolding, one team, one MCS certificate. Panels, hybrid inverter and battery are commissioned together — no return visit, no retrofit labour later.

4

Monitoring & handover

You get the app on day one with free lifetime monitoring and automatic fault alerts, plus full manufacturer and workmanship warranties.

Smart tariffs

Unlock the best export tariffs

A battery is what makes smart tariffs pay. On Octopus Flux you charge cheaply overnight, run the house off stored solar through the day, and export at the 24p peak rate in the evening — a swing worth £600–£900/year over a basic export tariff. Solar alone can't time-shift like this; the battery is the difference between exporting at 15p and exporting at 24p.

Frequently Asked

Common questions

Should I install solar and battery at the same time?
Usually yes. Installing together shares one set of scaffolding, one survey and one MCS certificate, and the hybrid inverter is sized for the battery from day one — so you avoid paying for retrofit labour and an inverter swap later. It is the lowest cost-per-kWh route to energy independence.
How much does solar panel and battery installation cost?
A full 4 kW solar + battery package is typically £13,200–£16,200 fitted depending on the battery (EcoFlow PowerOcean from £13,200, Tesla Powerwall 3 from £14,500). All of it is 0%-rated VAT until 31 March 2027. A larger 6 kW + battery package is around £15,800–£17,500.
What battery should I choose — Powerwall or EcoFlow?
Tesla Powerwall 3 leads on app polish, Storm Watch and an integrated 11.5 kW inverter. EcoFlow PowerOcean leads on warranty (15 years) and outdoor IP65 mounting. GivEnergy AIO is the UK-built all-in-one. All three are safe LFP chemistry — we recommend the best fit at survey.
Will a solar and battery system work in a power cut?
With a whole-home backup gateway (Tesla) or EPS-enabled battery, yes — essential circuits stay live during an outage. Without the backup option, the system safely shuts down in a power cut for grid-safety reasons, like all grid-tied solar.
How fast does a solar + battery system pay back?
A combined system lifts self-consumption from ~30% (solar alone) to 80%+, and on a smart export tariff like Octopus Flux a typical 4 kW + Powerwall setup saves around £1,184/year — a 10–12 year payback, with 13+ years of effectively free electricity after that.
