The Challenge
A four-bedroom detached house in South Manchester with a family of five was paying over £250/month in electricity bills. The homeowners had an electric vehicle and wanted to reduce their dependence on grid electricity while charging their car with clean energy.
Our Solution
We installed 12 x 415W solar panels on the south-facing roof, paired with a Tesla Powerwall 3 for evening and overnight energy storage. A dedicated solar-integrated EV charger was added to the garage, configured to prioritise solar energy via the Tesla app. The entire system was designed to maximise self-consumption at 85%.
The Results
Monthly electricity bills dropped from £250 to approximately £38. The Tesla Powerwall covers the family's evening usage entirely, and the EV charges almost exclusively from solar during spring and summer months. Annual savings total £1,340 including reduced fuel costs. The system is projected to pay for itself in 6.8 years.
